Dash Panel Seal Assembly

This product is a multicomponent thermoplastic elastomer overmold with dissimilar material substrates. A bearing subassembly is inserted into an injection mold along with a talcfilled polypropylene frame. Both pieces are then overmolded to form a durable dash seal. 

Vanguard Plastics Corp. partnered with the customer to develop this unique application from prototypes to full automotive production levels.  This work helped to save the client almost $100,000 annually in costs versus the old conventional thermoset rubber dash seal assembly.

Rotary Duct

This air duct, which is used in a major consumer appliance; pushed a commodity thermoplastic to new levels of precision.  A complex tool with multiple cam actions and tolerances as tight as +/- .001 was quickly developed to play a key role in a new an innovative product marketed by our client. Specially shaped oval cores and cam actions were created to compensate accurately for material shrinkage.  This level of precision was instrumental in the products successful deployment.

Radiation Detector Handle and Battery Housing

Vanguard Plastics was selected by a customer with limited plastic injection molding experience to assist in the design and development of a radiation detection unit for a homeland security application.  We not only helped to select the raw material but were also instrumental in determining the final net shape for manufacturability.
